The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors is seeking those interested in serving the residents of the county by volunteering to serve on Boards and Commissions.

Economic Development Authority

  • 4 appointments needed

The Economic Development Authority (EDA) promotes economic, commercial, and industrial growth in the county. The EDA holds regular meetings bimonthly, and called or special meetings as needed. These meetings are typically held at 9 am on Tuesdays. Directors serve as at-large members and are not district specific. This appointment will be for a four-year term.

Planning Commission

  • 1 appointment needed for District 5

The Planning Commission (PC) is required to serve in and advisory role to the Board of Supervisors and conduct studies of existing local conditions and future trends and to prepare and recommend to the Board a comprehensive plan for the general physical development of the locality and an ordinance to regulate the subdivision of land within its boundaries. The Commission is also responsible for preparing and recommending a capital outlay program, an official map, and a zoning ordinance. The PC holds regular meetings monthly, workshops at least quarterly, and special or called meetings as needed. These meetings are typically held at 6:30 pm on Mondays. This appointment will be for a three-year term.

Central Virginia Workforce Investment Board

  • 1 appointment needed

The appointee should be a private-sector business owner, or at the decision-making level of the business that will represent the interests of the county regarding matters relating to staffing and employment. The Board typically holds meetings quarterly in Keysville at 9 am during the weekdays. This appointment is for a two-year term.

Virginia Growth Alliance

  • 1 appointment needed

The Virginia Growth Alliance (VGA) is a regional economic development alliance whose purpose is to increase business opportunities and other development opportunities within our region. The Alliance typically holds regular meetings monthly in Keysville.
