Overview
The Code of Virginia §15.2-2308 requires that every locality that has enacted a zoning ordinance, shall establish a Board of Zoning Appeals. State Code also designates the Board of Zoning Appeals with the following powers and duties:
- To hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative officer in the administration or enforcement of state code or of any ordinance adopted pursuant to state code
- To grant upon appeal or original application in specific cases of a variance.
Meetings
Regular meetings of the Board of Zoning Appeals are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. unless there are no cases pending or other business scheduled in which case no meeting will be held. All meetings will be held in the Circuit Courtroom of the Cumberland Courthouse located at 17 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia 23040, unless otherwise posted.
